March 9, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

Let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. (1 Corinthians 10:12)

We are saved by grace through faith and not by works. God did that through Christ so we can have eternal life. So obviously, that eternal life is not something we secure through a prayer of repentance. It's freely given, and for a purpose - for us to live it. That's why it's called life. We live it eternally, consistently and unceasingly.

The prescribed attitude in living that life is humility and gratefulness. And we are instructed to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, not with arrogance. And certainly not with an idle lifestyle or with our former sinful ways. We are called to work out by faith what God has worked in by grace. Let us reflect our thankfulness of His amazing grace in the way we live that life.
