Monday, April 15: “Suffering Perfects Change”
1 Peter 5: 10: “After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, Who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you”
Do we need to suffer Purgatory before we are fit for an eternity with the Lord? Although He was a Son, Christ Himself learned obedience from the things which He suffered–no Purgatory required ( Hebrews 5: 8). There are plenty of things right here on earth, in our natural lifetimes, which God can use to perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish us. And we don’t need to go looking for them; He knows how to bring us what we need, when we need it. Self-imposed suffering produces nothing of value.
