Monday, July 1: “Unlikely Weapon”
Romans 6: 13: “Do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.”
The word translated here as ‘instruments’ is, in literal Greek, the word for ‘weapons’. Yes, we can use every part of our bodies as weapons of righteousness–against unrighteousness! How? We can use our eyes for seeing the good in others rather than leering at others with lust; our hands for helping the needy rather than striking with wicked fists; our ears for hearing God’s voice rather than man’s foolishness. God gave us our bodies as weapons, to be used against unrighteousness. Or we can choose to use them in the opposite manner. It’s our call.
