Monday, July 24: “Spread the Word”
Acts 13: 46: “Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, ‘It was necessary that the Word of God be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.”
In today’s Gospel reading, Mark 4: 1-20, we see how the sower, the Lord Himself, is not particular about where the seed is sown. In fact, He is careful to broadcast it wherever He can, in every type of soil. Paul and Barnabas have the same approach here. It was necessary to sow the Word among the Jews, but that didn’t exclude the Gentiles. The Lord wants everyone to get the word!
