Monday, March 18: “Trust in the Lord’s Slaying Us”

Exodus 4: 24: “Now it came about at the lodging place on the way that the Lord met [Moses] and sought to put him to death.”

Imagine: How hard would it be to trust in the God Who calls you, then tries to kill you? What’s with that? Well, first of all, why had Moses lived eighty years without being circumcised? Secondly, the Lord does this with everyone who seeks to follow Him. Being a Christian entails losing your life, taking up your cross … and trusting that the same God Who raised Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal body. The more you die to yourself and trust the Lord with every step, the more of His life you receive. Yes, it’s paradoxical. Just ask Moses.
