Monday, March 4: “More Important Than Yourselves II”

Psalm 80: 2: “Before Ephriam and Benjamin and Manassah, stir up Your power and come to save us!”

Although Ephriam was a tribe of importance early in Israel’s history, by the time of the monarchy it had fallen in rank. Manassah had split into two, east and west, and was quickly assimilated into the pagan nations, while Benjamin had its own tragic history. Yet when pleading for God’s restoration, the psalmist did not omit these struggling tribes, but singled them out for special favor. We must never consider ourselves as better than, thus more worthy than, others; the character of God is to shine His face upon all who need revival from Him.
