Monday, May 13: “Seasons of Suffering II”

Psalms 89: 46a, 50: “How long, O Lord? Will You hide Yourself forever? Remember, O Lord, the reproach of Your servants; how I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the many peoples.”

Another form of suffering and sorrow is reproach. It is human nature to desire respect and acceptance from everyone,  but sadly, that’s just not going to happen in this lifetime. Our very faith makes us a target of reproach from certain sectors (1 Peter 4: 4), and we must admit that our very humanity makes us deserving of it from time to time. Again, this is something that Jesus is very familiar with, and He knows how to remember–and comfort–those suffering reproach. Like David, we ask Him for it.
