Monday, November 20: “True Light’s Overshadowing”

“True Light’s Overshadowing”

Matthew 17: 5: “While [Peter] was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, ‘This is My beloved Son, with Whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!’”

Clouds are about darkness, right? Not always. Do you think the glory cloud that covered Mount Sinai and filled the temple was dark? The Father, Who has never been seen (John 1: 8; 6: 46), remains that way by sometimes covering Himself with a bright cloud. Instead of being oppressed by dark clouds overhead, as we might foolishly confess, God’s children are overshadowed by the bright cloud of God’s presence; for guidance, protection, or, as here, correction.
