And let them pray for him continually; let them bless him all day long. (Psalm 72:15)
The community of God's people, Israel in the Old Testament and the Church in the New, has had both good and bad leaders, but they were all ordained by God nonetheless. Our role is to acknowledge His anointed, submit to Him by submitting to them, and pray for them and the betterment of their administration. All the same, we are to always obey God rather than men when their ways run counter to His.
We pray for leaders for this very reason, whether they are of government, Church, or any jurisdiction. And even if they’re corrupt, it doesn’t take away from God's Sovereignty. He remains Lord of heaven and earth. Plus, if a leader is bad, we all the more have to make supplication for him and not undermine him. We need to learn to entrust to God all other misgivings. The part of every believer is to lift up holy hands without anger or argument, being anxious for nothing, and exercise their priestly ministry of intercession.
