“Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” (Luke 6:27-28)

Love is willing and pursuing the good of others at your own expense and with no strings attached. It is one-way, unmerited, and unprompted. To give such to our enemies is therefore extremely radical and much harder.

According to Jesus, if we love only those who are easy to love, we are no different from the world. But if we love those who are difficult to love, we prove to be sons of our heavenly Father who makes the sun to shine and the rain to fall both on the righteous and the unrighteous. Indiscriminate love is the hallmark of God's children.
