“Promised Land Lost”

Psalm 105: 11: “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.” We must remember that Canaan was not primarily a place to chill and party. It was to be a proving ground where the principles of God could be seen to work in man’s daily experience. Like Eden, it was supposed to be a place to be fruitful and multiply. Israel never really got that, which is why they did not last long in the land; not as punishment, but because they were living in Canaan like an irresponsible heir wasting their inheritance. In the New Jerusalem (all believers, Jew and Gentile) it has to be different.
