Saturday, April 20: “Hope Guarantees Change”

Psalm 43: 5: “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God.”

The Psalm 42/43 combo, which many consider as one psalm, begins with a man in agony, thirsting for a renewal of the joyful relationship he once shared with God. But in the midst of his mourning, three times–in the middle and conclusion of the forty-second psalm, and at the end of the forty-third–he stops and confesses his hope in God as the One Who is able to change things, and bring them back aright. Many may promise change; only God delivers!
