Saturday, August 24: “Unwanted Light”
Job 3: 20, 23: “Why is light given to him who suffers, and life to the bitter of soul? … Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, and whom God has hedged in?”
After losing his children, his possessions, and his health, Job was considering why God had bothered to spare his life. He didn’t yet realize that sustaining His light of life in us is the greatest act of mercy that the Lord has to extend to us; transcending our circumstances and our fear. His mercy is always greater, always there, always available–and never to be taken for granted. Oh, the mercy of God!
