Saturday, January 18: “Rare Occurrence”
Mark 3: 5:“After looking around at [the Pharisees] with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, [Jesus] said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored.”
Pay close attention here! This is the only time the Bible shows Jesus angry. (He cleansed the temple in zeal, not anger;John 2: 17.) What made Jesus angry? When the Pharisees thought themselves the lords of the Sabbath(2: 24, 28),and decreed that it was better to be hungry or crippled than to violate their tradition. Does their attitude reflect a single trace of God’s kind intention toward His children?
