Saturday, July 13: “Misrepresented Messiah”

Psalm 110: 1: “The Lord says to My Lord: ‘Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.’”

The Pharisees taught that the Messiah was to be the son of David. While true in the genealogical sense, in a way that fulfilled God’s promise to David, this understanding limits the Messiah to a purely human dimension. As Jesus made clear inMatthew 22: 41-45, the Messiah (Himself) had a heavenly lineage that set Him apart from all other descendants of David; from all of mankind. He was, and is, the Son of God!
