Saturday, November 16: “Merciful Judgment”

James 2: 13: “Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the Kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?”

Has God condemned the poor? No, He has chosen them. It is those who judge the poor who receive no mercy (v. 13), but in the biggest picture, the only picture that really counts, being chosen an heir of the Kingdom is all that matters, and that we receive it, not by being perfect in law-keeping, but by being perfected in the love of Christ. And that itself is a gift from a merciful God.
