Saturday, November 2: “Blessed in Proxy”

Ecclesiasticus 35: 2:“He who returns a kindness offers fine flour, and he who gives alms sacrifices thank offerings.”

Fine flour and thank offerings were frequently given under the Mosaic Law, and the son of Sirach makes it clear that blessing others keeps alive that giving spirit of the Old Covenant. When you bless others, you bless the Lord. And when you do it with a thankful heart, you will not be forgotten by Him(v. 7).“So in everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”(1 Thessalonians 5: 18)
