September 10, 2021: DAILY DOSE OF DISCERNMENT

“Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal.” (Philippians 3:13-14)

On a road trip, you cannot drive forward and reach your destination if you constantly look in the rear view mirror. If you do, you will miss directions and hurt yourself and others. The windshield is so much bigger for a reason: so you can clearly see and move ahead.

Learn from the wisdom of Paul who could easily have been bitter and hung up on the injustices he experienced. His encouragement is to forget what’s behind you and focus on what’s before you. The past is meant to learn from, not live in. Let it guide you, not drag you, or get you in trouble. Then reach forward and press on. What you went through is nothing compared to the glory that is to be revealed.
