September 11, 2021: DAILY DOSE OF DISCERNMENT

And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

Fifty-some Bible translations of this verse start with “And,” “Then” or “And then,” indicating that it’s a conclusion based on the conditions previously stated. Paul mentions four things that lead to having the peace of God namely, rejoice in the Lord always, let your gentle spirit be known to all men, be anxious for nothing, and make your requests known to God by prayer and thanksgiving.

The Hebrew word for peace is Shalom and it means a lot more than simply not having anxiety. It is total wellbeing in body, mind and spirit and is not dependent on circumstances. God wills for us to have such peace. The world cannot give it to us. It only comes from God. Jesus shows us in His word the way to obtain it. Choose peace.
