September 21, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernment

“Whom you therefore unknowingly worship, Him I proclaim to you.” (Acts 17:23)

In my humble opinion, atheism may not be so much rebellion against God as it is ignorance of Who He is. Those who call themselves atheists do not reject the true God. What they reject and abhor is an unmerciful, unjust and violent monster which is the exact opposite of the Father of Jesus. These people groan (read: pray) that there might be a Cosmic Sovereign who is benevolent. Our mission is to make this God known to them.

The prophet Isaiah envisions a time when the Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet of fine wine and choice meat for all men. A time when He will swallow up death for all time, wipe tears away from all faces, and remove the guilt and shame of all people. Then they will joyfully proclaim, “This is the God for Whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation." The world is on a trajectory toward that dream. It is a great privilege to be called by God to participate in this restorative process.
