September 24, 2024 Daily Dose of Discernement

“What is your request? Even to half of the kingdom it shall be given to you." (Esther 5:3)

As far as I know, there are two biblical characters who promised to grant a request to as much as half of their kingdom - King Ahasuerus and King Herod. Pretty generous. But only God our Father has chosen gladly to give us the resources of His entire kingdom. He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing from the heavenly places.

We should be as secure as David who realized that the Lord is his Shepherd and therefore he shall not want. There is no need to be anxious or hoard or grab. As Saint Paul says, "All things belong to you, and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God." May we find security in this unchanging truth and not in the temporal things the world entices us with.
