“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” (Matthew 2:2)
It’s ironic that Gentiles were aware of the birth of the Messiah and the king of the people of God and the religious leaders were not. And it’s lamentable that that king and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were troubled instead of thrilled when they heard the news. They were blessed to have access to the house of God. They participated in the temple services and had the privilege of being instructed in the things of God. But they missed the coming of His Son.
God forbid that we end up in the same tragic place. We belong to His church, hear His message, receive the sacraments and have His word in digital format. These are blessings. May we not be jaded by them. But may we constantly grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus, ever thirsting for the things of God and tasting and seeing His goodness.
