Do all things without complaining or arguing, so that you will prove to be … children of God. (Philippians 2:14-15)
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says sons of God are those who are peacemakers and love their enemies. Elsewhere in scripture, their other attributes are mentioned. In Philippians, Paul indicates that they are those who do things without grumbling or disputing.
My mentor taught me to obey first before complaining. In many cases, our questions and complaints are answered only after we follow instructions. Usually, those who complain the most are those who do the least, or nothing at all. Don’t be like them. Prove to be children of God by doing His will without murmuring or questioning. That way, you give a powerful witness to a crooked and perverse generation and shine as lights in the world.
