Pagans of old feared their gods out of terror. They sacrificed human lives to appease their deity. Christians, or at least those who have a sound understanding of who their God is, fear Him out of reverence, thankful that He died their death that they may live His life.
One day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord but not because they’ll think they’ll have to “turn or burn.” No, they will honor Him because of His righteous acts of justice that restores everything to its rightful place according to His original design and that He performs to His own hurt. And they will want to serve Him out of gratefulness and awe. May that day be sooner for us than later.
