Spiritual Food in Quarantine

The Rich Man and Lazarus (Lk 16:19-31)

The rich man in this story symbolizes us, the Church. Like him, we have been abundantly blessed and are in the midst of people who are hungry for food, hope and healing. May we learn from his error and realize we have been endowed with provisions that are more than enough to meet our own needs and those of others. The worst thing we can do is keep them for ourselves and not help the poor.

We have been entrusted with powerful gifts and are expected to use them for the glory of God. And the glory of God is man fully alive, that is, demonstrating the divine likeness of caring for the needy. Let us make productive use of what we have received and be instruments through whom others can be blessed and made fully alive as well.
