Any famous person caught on a hot mic goes viral. It’s a controversy that sells. The truth is, people say things in private that they would otherwise won’t or would be embarrassed to speak in public. I dare say no exceptions, “except for the Pope maybe in Rome.”
James says the tongue is an unruly fire, a restless evil full of deadly poison. With it we praise God and with it we malign our neighbor. It’s not right. There should be no unwholesome word proceeding from our mouths, but only such as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Jesus, God’s Word, lives in us. Only blessings flow from Him, not curses. May we let Him increase and be abundant in our hearts so that only out of that abundance will our mouths speak.
