Spiritual Food in Quarantine

No one engages in a fight thinking they’re wrong. We may quote the Psalm and claim, “Too long have I lived with those who hate peace; I ask for peace, but they want war.” But it only takes one aggressor for there to be conflict. And if we’re honest, we’d admit the cause of quarrels is the selfish desires within us (James 4:1). All of us.

Isaiah foresaw a day when the Lord would settle disputes. With him, we look forward with hope to the reign of the Prince of Peace who will make all warring cease. Now hope is something that is not seen. And if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it (Rom 8:25). Persevere in what? In living as if peace is already reigning. If we do, we will hasten its fulfillment. And that faith will put substance to the things we hope for.
