Sunday, December 22: “Restoration of Salvation”

John 3: 17: “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”

The coming of the Christ into the world through His Incarnation was about restoration. Not the restoration of judgement or condemnation; those things had been around, unabated, since man’s fall in the Garden of Eden. No, it was to restore salvation, meaning the presence of God in the midst of His people. Adam lost it (Genesis 3: 23, 24); Christ restored it by dwelling among us (Revelation 21: 3). That’s Christmas, three days early!
