Sunday, January 12: “Changing Mood”
Isaiah 40: 11: “Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, in His arms He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes.”
Remember back in the first week of Advent, when Isaiah was dishing out warnings and judgments faster than a pastry chef dishes out calories? Well, that was chapters one to thirty-nine. By chapter forty, the mood is about to change! And from now until chapter sixty-six we see a God Who is gentle, tender, caring, and loving. What changed? Not God. It’s just that Isaiah is now giving us the bigger picture of Who God has always been, and Who He will ever be.
