Sunday, January 26: “Divine Assembly”

Hebrews 10: 24, 25: “Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

We live in a day which is rife with opportunities for the giving and receiving of stimulation and encouragement. If you don’t believe me, just scroll. Good things can and do come from that. But it cannot be allowed to replace face-to-face interpersonal interaction. With rare exception, Jesus began the healing of another with a touch. St. Peter’s first words to the lame beggar in Acts chapter 3 were “Look at us.” The point is, nothing can duplicate the life-giving power of assembling together. Regularly. Today, for instance.
