Sunday, March 3: “More Important Than Yourselves I”

Romans 8: 4: “So that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

The requirement of the Law is to love God first, then your neighbor as yourself. Jesus Christ was the first to meet that requirement perfectly. He actually took it to a higher level; instead of living according to the flesh, putting His own wants and needs first, He humbled himself to the point where He regarded the needs of others as more important than, not just equal to, His own. When we imitate that attitude, it’s called walking according to the Spirit. That’s what makes things happen in the Kingdom of God.
