Sunday, September 1: “Christ the Worthy Lamb”

Revelation 5: 1; 6a; 9: “I saw in the right hand of Him Who sat on the throne a book written inside and on the back, sealed up with seven seals … and I saw … a Lamb standing, as if slain … and they sang a new song, saying, ‘Worthy are You to take the book and break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”

The only book (scroll, tablet) seen in the Bible with writing on both sides is the tablets given by God to Moses on Mt. Sinai (Exodus 32: 15) containing not only the Ten Commandments, but the whole Law. The Only One worthy to fulfill (unseal) this Law, including its sacrifices, its blessings, and its curses was the One Whom John recognized as the true Lamb of God (John 1: 29), and Whom Peter recognized as the One prophesied by Moses (Deuteronomy 18: 15; Acts 3: 22, 23). Only Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the worthy Lamb, fulfilled and enacted this whole Law, the divine will of God, and embodied the divine love upon which it was founded.
