Sunday, September 29: “Show Your Deeds”

James 3: 13: “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.”

Of all the weighty words in this verse, perhaps the most important is the word ‘show.’ To show is to make visible. If you are sitting around doing nothing, visibility is not so important, but if you are going somewhere, by car, plane, or whatever, visibility becomes a vital concern. As Christians, we are all on a personal journey, a journey on a narrow way (Matthew 7: 14), and we are to help others find that way, as well. How? By showing the way through visible, behavior-forming deeds which illuminate our destination, the Kingdom of God.
