Thursday, August 1: “Fatal Consequences”

Acts 1: 16: “Brethren, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.”

From the greatest act of free will ever seen yesterday, we see the worst today. And while you can hear some trying to preach Judas into Heaven, it’s a really, really big stretch. Looking at the immediate consequences of his choice to betray Jesus (Matthew 27: 5, Acts 1: 18), it is hard not to see in his story a serious warning against the immense consequences that such choices can bring.
