Thursday, August 29: “Doubted Identity”

John 7: 27: “However, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from.”

Where exactly did these people get this idea? Micah had prophesied Bethlehem as the birthplace of the Christ (Micah 5: 2), something the chief priests and scribes looked for (Matthew 2: 3-5); while Isaiah had mentioned His emergence from Galilee (Isaiah 9: 1), which they seemed to reject (John 7: 52). Why can’t we stop making up and promoting baseless theology, and just believe the scriptures for what they say?
