Thursday, January 2: “Christmas Proclaims: Jesus Is the Bread of Life!”
John 6: 35: “Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.” Even the Nativity we celebrate at Christmas foresees Jesus as the Bread of Life. The name of His birthplace, ‘Bethlehem’, means ‘house of bread’. On top of that, the manger that Mary laid him in was a feeding trough, actually a large, convex stone, where the animals were fed. The Lord could have had His Son born anywhere; He chose Bethlehem, and a herdsman’s device to feed animals, to make sure we get the point—This Child is destined to be Living Bread!
