Thursday, July 27: “Spread to the Unlikely”
Mark 5: 1, 2: “They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. When [Jesus] got out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him.”
Count on Jesus to go against the flow! While, as we read elsewhere, no one could pass through that area because of the violence of the demoniac (Matthew 8: 28), Jesus headed right for it. Even a tomb-dwelling, chain-breaking, self-harming psycho is not rejected by Jesus; to him, too, God sends His Word and heals him (Psalm 107: 20), and delivers the Gerasenes from his destructions.
