Thursday, July 4: “Unlikely Guest”

Matthew 22: 11, 12: “But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes, and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?’ And the man was speechless.”

The Good News is, many are invited to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb: A-listers, O-listers, Z-listers, no-listers. The oft-unheard news is, being invited (the called) is not the end of the story. Accepting the invitation brings with it a responsibility incumbent upon wedding guests. And while the “wedding garments” may or may not be the righteous acts of the saints (Revelation 19: 8), and even unlikely guests are called and welcome, the more you love the King’s Son, the stronger your desire will be to please Him, bring glory to Him, and not embarrass Him; and the greater your likelihood of being chosen.
