Thursday, July 6: “Uncircumcised Ears IV”

Psalm 105: 37, 38: “Then [God] brought [the Israelites] out with silver and gold, and among His tribes there was not one who stumbled. Egypt was glad when they departed, for the dread of them had fallen upon them.”

Six times Pharaoh promised under duress from God to allow Israel to leave Egypt. Six times he recanted once the plague in effect was stopped. How much misery, suffering, and death could have been avoided, if only his hardened heart had not gotten in the way! Yes, the Lord hardened his heart, but only after Pharaoh had hardened it first.
