Thursday, May 16: “Seasons of Suffering V”

Matthew 9: 2: “They brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, ‘Take courage, son, your sins are forgiven.’”

This passage relates a literal event, but it can also be taken symbolically. Unforgiveness, especially unforgiveness of self, is a powerful force that can paralyze us spiritually, making us unfruitful in the things of the Spirit and unfulfilled in our Christian walk. We must accept the good news that God has forgiven our sins, and stop suffering in silence over the memory of them. This sets us free to forgive ourselves, so we can then walk in love and its many manifestations.
