Thursday, October 5: “Revival of Gladness”
Psalm 105: 41: “[God] opened the rock and water flowed out; it ran in the dry places like a river.”
In the literal realm, this psalm is about God’s Covenant dealings with Israel. Figuratively, it is about the revival of His children in the wilderness, as streams of living water (John 7: 37, 38) flow from Christ the Rock (1 Corinthians 10: 4). No matter how far we stray from God, no matter what Desert of Sin (Numbers 13: 21) we find ourselves in, He is always ready to come to us–not with a trickle, but with the river whose streams make glad the city of God (Psalm 46: 4).
