“True Identity”

Luke 15: 32: “But we had to be merry and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.” In this story of a provincial farmer’s son who wants to be an international playboy, and another heir to the estate who views himself as a slave, one character stays true to Who He really is: The Father Who loves His sons through all their shenanigans because He sees them as they really are. Thus, He can wait for the return of one, and go out and entreat the other, and rejoice when all is settled, because all things are finally as they were meant to be—as He has always meant them to be.
