Tuesday, August 16: “This Is Only a Test: Part II”

Acts 8: 1, 3: “Saul ws in hearty agreement with putting [Stephen] to death … Saul began ravaging the Church, entering house after house, and dragging off men and women, he would put them in prison.”

The young Saul (7: 58) was quite full of pride in his education, wisdom, and zeal for God. But he was the epitome of the adage, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions,” as well as, “You can be sincere, yet be sincerely wrong.” When God gave Saul this test via Stephen’s martyrdom, it revealed a zeal without compassion, a faith without hearing, and a wisdom without the Spirit. But this test continued to burn in Saul’s heart, until one day as he was on the road to Damascus, the Lord gave him a test that he passed with flying colors!
