Tuesday, August 6: “Divine Humanity”

2 Corinthians 4: 4, 6: “The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ … for God, Who said ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One Who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.“

As St. Paul says here, not everyone saw (or sees) the full glory of Christ; they are blinded to it by outside forces. Even the disciples were unaware–until the Transfiguration, when, as the Gospel at today’s Mass says, not only His clothes, but His face, began glowing with divine glory. And the glory of God Who created the light still reveals the light of Christ’s glory to us, as we behold in His face (character) the glorious Gospel.
