Psalm 45: 4a:“In Your majesty ride on victoriously, for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness.” Truth, we get. Righteousness, we understand. But isn’t meekness the odd man out in this trio? The one that doesn’t belong? After all, meekness is not very entertaining on social media or in situation comedies, unless it is to serve as the butt of the cool character’s jokes. But to discard meekness is to disregard the Beatitudes (Matthew 5: 5), and to redefine the very character of Jesus Himself (Isaiah 42: 2-4). He doesn’t ride without it.
