Tuesday, July 18: “Divine Logic”
Mark 2: 8, 9: “Immediately Jesus, aware in His spirit that [the scribes] were reasoning that way within themselves, said to them, ‘Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, “Your sins are forgiven”; or to say, “Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk?”’”
I wonder how many times people tore up a roof so they could gain access to one of these scribes? A good guess would be “none.” Their jealousy set them to reasoning how forgiveness might be a bad thing, then Jesus turned logic against them by saying, “If I can heal this man, I can surely forgive him,” Then He did both. In the wrong hands with wrong motives, reason and logic can be destructive; submitted to God, either can be liberating
