Tuesday, October 10: “Royal Conviction”

2 Kings 22: 8, 10: “Then Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, ‘I have found the book of the law And Hilkih gave the book to Shaphan who read it … When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes.”

Have you ever lost your bible? Judah did–(the nation, not the patriarch)--for almost sixty years, during the abominable reigns of Manassah and his son. But even though locked away in the temple, which was being used for the worship of Asherah, that book still had the power to convict, and bring a king and a nation to its knees. Without that conviction the thirty-year revival of Judah, God’s great demonstration of patience and mercy, would never have been.
