Tuesday, September 19: “Tempted to Do It Yourself”
1 Corinthians 1: 30: “By [God’s] doing you are in Christ Jesus, Who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption.” It is easy to fall into the D.I.Y. trap–to try to do for ourselves what Christ has already done for us. We try so hard to be wise and righteous and sanctified and redeemed; but we only get frustrated with our failure, because we are neither equipped nor able to be what Christ has already become in us and for us. If you want to make a D.I.Y. project of that kitchen of yours, go ahead! But your soul is best left to the expert; reject the temptation to D.I.Y.-improve on that. SHOW LESS
