Tuesday, September 5: “Common Metaphor”
Psalm 26: 9: “Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.”
It is a common scriptural metaphor: The Lord God (and in the New Testament, the Lord Jesus) is the shepherd of His people; protecting, feeding, leading, and even carrying us if necessary. It is a blessing He brings to all His inheritance. Again, whom does He consider a part of His flock, and whom doesn’t He consider? Well, have you ever, anywhere in the Bible, seen a sheep He rejected?
