Wednesday, August 7: “Vessels of Fire”

Judges 7: 20: “When the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers, they held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands for blowing, and cried, ‘A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!’”

Nice battle cry, Gideon, except … the total supply of swords for three hundred soldiers was: zero. Zilch. Nada. So what was this sword they were carrying on about? The fire of God hidden inside each one of His people, His earthen vessels (2 Corinthians 4: 7), and when that pitcher gets out of the way, the light and glory of God’s Word, the two-edged sword, hidden no longer, slices and dices its way through every work of the enemy.
